This study aimed to investigate the effect of changes in Sea Surface Temperature (SST) of the rainfall over the Indonesian Maritime Continent (IMC) region. This is done because of IMC region consists of many islands surrounded by the sea, of which there are two major oceans, namely the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. This study was conducted by using a model of Regional Climate Model version 4 (RegCM4). The RegCM4 model is one of the climate models that were originally developed by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and widely applied to study regional climate studies and prediction of the season around the world. The model scenario is used to determine the interaction of the land-ocean-atmosphere that occurs in IMC with one way to determine the effect of SST on rainfall. The scenario is divided into increasing 1°– 2°C and reducing 1°–2°C of SST. The simulation in this study was using one month period data, from 1 to 30 September 2006. The results show that the dominance effects of SST changes to IMC rainfall are higher on land than at sea. This indicates that the influence of the SST to rainfall is strengthened on land than at sea.
